Stress and Anxiety

The potential sources of stress these days are endless. I help many people who are struggling with multiple stressors including challenging work environments, burn out, work/life balance, school, and health concerns.

When we experience stress we can pinpoint a “stressor”, like needing to work over time. Anxiety can happen when we don’t know why we feel stressed. In either case, your heart may race, you may feel pressure on your chest, and it can feel hard to catch your breath; all the while, your mind is racing.

I am trained and experienced with Somatic Attachment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-focused Therapy, and somatic modalities that scientific research has shown to help calm your mind and body.

For some people the techniques and skills learned in therapies such as CBT are enough to help them gain control over the stress and anxiety in their lives, but for those who want to dive deeper I can facilitate looking at your family-of-origin and past traumas that may be influencing how you respond to stressors now. Strategies that may have helped you survive in the past may simply be outdated or be harming you now. The first step to changing these patterns is gaining awareness of them.

I facilitate this deeper work by giving you strategies that you can use on your own and in session with me to help create a sense of calm and safety so that you can listen to, and act on, your inner wisdom.
